From Facebook by Cheryl Timko Collette Here is the PLAN for YHS 1961 Reunion: Two events will be held at the Crowne Plaza in downtown Knoxville, and a block of rooms has been reserved at the hotel at a discounted rate. Call 865 522-2600 (toll free 877 227-6963) for reservations and mention that you are attending the 1961 Young High School reunion. For online reservations, go to the Young High web site for information on how to proceed. Friday, April 15 – Meet and Greet Social Time (casual dress). We’ll gather in the Crowne Plaza’s Cumberland Room at 6:00 pm to kick off the weekend. Stop at the sign-in table on entering to get name tags and a packet of reunion information. Heavy hors d-oeuvres and soft beverages are included in the ticket price. Other drinks can be purchased from the nearby hotel bar. The cost is $20.00 per person. Here’s our first chance to see how many people we can recognize without peeking at their name tags! Saturday, April 16 – Sit-Down Dinner (dressy casual). The morning and afternoon are free to enjoy at your leisure. Ask reunion committee members for suggestions about activities/restaurants/shopping in the area. At 6:00 pm, join us in the Salon A & B for a social hour before dinner is served at 7. A South Knoxville DJ will be on hand to provide music from our era, as well as a photographer to provide memories of this milestone event. Some fun entertainment is on tap, and we’ll award door prizes. If you bring your dancing shoes, you can put them to good use on the dance floor. The cost is $45.00 per person. Sunday, April 17 – Catered Picnic (casual). Come to Carl Cowan Park on Northshore Drive (maps will be provided) from 12:30 to 3 pm for a picnic catered by Knoxville’s own Buddy’s BBQ. The park has a covered pavilion with tables and benches, plus playgrounds (ideal for grandchildren) and walking paths. If your guests plan to eat BBQ, you will need to register that information beforehand. The cost is $15.00 per person. |
